How it begins
Silas Croft stepped onto the salt-crusted docks of Oakhaven, the air thick with the scent of decaying brine and something else—a subtle, metallic tang that prickled the back of his throat. Overhead, the sky was a bruised plum, reflecting dimly in the leaden waters of the cove. The old lighthouse, the very reason he’d journeyed to this forgotten stretch of coast, loomed on the distant promontory, a skeletal finger against the darkening horizon. Professor Malachi Harthorn’s last missive had been terse, almost frantic: "The calculations... they are almost complete. But the static, Silas, the static between worlds. It's growing."
