How it begins
The recycled air in the Ember Drift’s lower docks tasted of ozone and desperation, a familiar blend to Kiran Vex. Below, a cluster of worn cargo freighters, their hulls patched like ancient quilts, hummed with a low, restless energy. Above, the station’s artificial sky flickered, attempting to mimic a dawn that never truly broke. Kiran ran a gloved thumb over the cracked datapad in their hand, the static-laced message from Valerius Kith repeating: "Sector 7. Cargo Bay Beta-9. Now. Before the Council's 'peacekeepers' get curious." Val rarely used the quotes, a sign of genuine urgency.
